Science Test: Fusion
So today was the day of my long dreaded physical science test. My mind is literally rattling from all of the intense studying I've been doing. Even outside of class and study I am thinking of the elements and compounds that could be found in anything I lay eyes on. But anyway, I got through the test, getting a pretty good 17 out of 30 (not bad, but not good) and at last I got to the final essay question asking to describe nuclear fusion, where it begins and ends, and why we do not use it as our commercial form of creating energy. I was on a role. I pulled out every bit of information I knew on the subject and strategically wrote them down, exuding my brilliance. As many of you know, fusion is extremely difficult to produce because it takes several million degrees of intense heat to get the two similarly charged nuclei to combine. It's like the power of the sun on earth. That reminded me of a movie I was very familiar with, almost too familiar with. Quite confidant that I had answered the question to its fullest detail, I added my own little flair to show just how much I really knew about fusion. It read something like this, "It is almost impossible to recreate the power of the sun as we saw in the movie, Spiderman II, where not even the famous Dr. Octavius succeeded to accomplish such an incredible task." Despite my low score, I walked out of the testing lab with an accomplished, proud grin on my face.
